Traffic and Safety
The Traffic and Safety Committee was formed to address the many concerns of parents and SD45 staff in regard to increased traffic around district schools. A community approach was taken involving the District of West Vancouver (DWV) and West Vancouver School District (WVSD) and the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) as well as ICBC.
The Traffic and Safety Committee mandate is to develop recommendations to improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety around all our school sites. Ideas are submitted and (budget allowing) resources are directed to alleviate these issues in the short and long term.
Achievement Contract
Achievement contracts are part of an annual accountability cycle, begun in 2001, for schools, school districts, and the Ministry of Education. The purpose of our district's Achievement Contract is to focus district attention and resources on improving student achievement.
The West Vancouver Board of Education adopted updates to the district's Achievement Contract for the 2009-2011 school years at the June 8, 2010 public Board meeting.

Special Education Review Implementation Committee
The Special Education Review Implementation Committee (SERIC) is a District committee that first met in the fall of 2004. The Committee was established following a district wide review, conducted by an external team in February 2004, of Student Support Services including special education, gifted education, and English as a second language (ESL).
The committee was formed to ensure that the recommendations outlined in the Review Report were prioritized and implemented.
All stakeholder groups are represented on the committee which includes teachers, special education assistants, school administration (vice principal and/or principal) and student support services specialists. The Principal, Student Support Services currently chairs the committee and the DPAC has two parent representatives.
Minutes from the meetings, and documents produced from committee initiatives are available on the West Vancouver School District website. Year end reports on the committee work have been presented to DPAC by the parent representatives and are available through DPAC minutes.
