Sports at WVSS

What sports can I play at Secondary School?

It’s important to know that sports are competitive in high school - this means that you must try out for a team and be selected to play.  For those who do not want to be competitive in sports there are many community programs that allow you to participate in team and individual sports. Click here for a small list of these opportunities.

Different sports are played at different times of the year, as follows:

FALL

WINTER

SPRING

Badminton

Basketball

Golf

Bantam Rugby

Skiing and Snowboarding

Tennis

Cross Country

Curling

Track and Field

Football

Gymnastics

Mountain Biking

Girls  Field Hockey

Jr. Rugby

Boys  Soccer

Sr. Rugby

Swimming

Girls  Soccer

Girls  volleyball

Ultimate

Bantam Football

There are different levels of sports depending on the grade you are in.  Each sport may not have a team for each level – there are a number of factors that are considered when deciding what teams will be run each year.  If you are interested in “playing up”, speak with the coach or the Athletic Director.  In sports that do not have a North Shore league at a particular level, athletes are not permitted to play up on a more senior team.

Bantam

Grade 8

Juvenile

Grade 9

Junior

Grade 10

Senior

Grade 11 and Grade 12

In order to remain competitive in our sports, we recommend that you play your sport outside of the season – you can do this through club play or camps in the summer, Christmas or Spring breaks.
