Course Coverage
Physical Education + Health & Career Education
Students participating in the Tennis Academy get course credits for Physical Education. Students in Grades 8 & 9 also receive the requirements for the mandatory Health & Career Course.
Planning 10 Mandatory
Students, at the Grade 10 level, must complete the mandatory Planning 10 course requirement. This course may form part of a student's overall timetable of course selections in the mornings, or a student has the option of completing the course on-line via correspondence or at summer school. School counsellors review each student's timetable and recommend accordingly.
Assessment & Evaluation
Skills & Fitness Assessment
Students' skill and fitness levels are continually monitored. Formal assessment is conducted in September and late February. Students participate in a series of on court and off court/dryland test items with results documented in formal reports to students and parents.
We emphasize to our students, the importance of forming good habits for success, not only in tennis, but also in school and in their relationships with others. Students are encouraged to be consistent in areas such as: goal setting, focus, work ethic, attitude and effort during both on court and off court/dryland sessions. Within the classroom component, students are monitored and assessed as they are encouraged to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key topics, submit quality class and homework assignments, display excellent overall effort and cooperate well with their peers.
