Are you interested in leading the school in sustainability, appreciating the earth in fun outdoor activities, discussing world environmental issues, and making a positive difference in your community? Then come check out the Environment club this year! Over the past few years, we’ve established a composting program and expanded recycling at Rockridge, volunteered at community events, and hosted the Earth Day concert and celebration. These initiatives have won us recognition from the City of West Vancouver, North Shore Recycling, and Science World, which included a $2,000 award. This year, club members will continue to have many volunteer and leadership opportunities in the community and in running Rockridge’s composting and recycling programs, which last year cut our school’s waste in half. In addition to this, we will be enriching our club by discussing world issues during our Wednesday meetings, having guest speakers come in, and hosting nature hikes, beach cleanups, and other outdoor activities for our members to participate in. If you’re interested, we are welcoming new members – meetings will be on Wednesdays at lunch in W211.
