21st Century Learning - session information:
"Learners are the owners of their learning." Dr. Judy Halbert and Dr. Linda Kaser will present strategies and successful pathways to enriched learning for all students. Learn the Four Big Ideas and Six Strategies that are bringing ground-breaking success in teaching and learning around the globe. Discover the proven tools that can help your child have a more powerful learning experience, including:
- Inquiry-mindedness: Active, focused inquiry drives improved learning gains for all learners.
- Assessment For and As Learning: Help learners take more control of their own learning.
During these sessions, parents will have a chance to explore the following questions:
- What have we learned about learning in the last 20 years?
- What are the implications for current practice in schools?
- How can parents and teachers work together to ensure that our children and our graduates will be active learners for their entire lives?
Instructor bios:
Dr. Judy Halbert and Dr. Linda Kaser have extensive experience as teachers, principals, district and provincial leaders. Their work in developing the BC Network of Performance Based Schools has gained national and international attention. They are on faculty at the University of Victoria and Vancouver Island University where they teach graduate programs in school leadership. Their recent book, Leadership Mindsets: is part of an international series focused on school transformation.
